  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • tbsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • For Glaze: 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • Optional Soul Food Seasoning Blend 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tbsp cayenne pepper

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl

  • Loaf pan (9x5) or baking sheet

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings.
  3. Mix gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  4. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan or baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  6. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Add remaining glaze and bake another 15–25 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
